Welcome back let's talk about how to choose the proper multivitamin for yourself or your child and why even consider multivitamin we're going to unpack all that in this session now i just want to make sure to offer full disclaimer disclosure the products we're going to be talking about today are my own that are formulated i have a supplement business but in this article i just want to help you understand whether or not you decide to use our business myoscience or any other company i just want you to figure out some of the things to look for in choosing a multivitamin for the people in your life that you care about and let me just back up i've been in the dietary supplement business professionally since so sick so the brahmin school vendors manufacturers all that i've i've been doing this for quite a long time and so when i go to a whole foods or when a friend calls me and says hey mike my wife is pregnant what do you think about this here's kind of my thinking process and i just want you to be able to think through this the first thing that i look for is the folate and the b12 forms.
So folic acid is often utilized in a lot of the over-the-counter retail supplements because it's very cheap it's very affordable when i talk about cheap i'm talking about i don't know maybe 70 a kilo maybe less compared to some of the folates that we use whether it's quattro folate which is an mthf methyltetrahydrofolate it's bioactive this is your european raw material or we use the metapholine which is another form of 5mthf from merck very expensive we're talking between 13 and 17 dollars a kilo so think about this if you're making one million doses do you wanna spend 70 bucks a kilo or less or 17 000 a kilo again so the form of folate is a major well i think it's a red flag it's kind of like you know when you're going out to dinner with someone and they say they're healthy and the first thing they order is chicken mcnuggets you're like all right well that's kind of a red flag how healthy really are you right the second thing i like to look for is the form of methyl b12 this is another dead giveaway that leads me to think okay do the people or persons behind this company know what they're doing when it comes to nutrition here's the red flag if you see cyanocobalamin it's a red flag walk away from it whoever is involved in that business they don't understand nutrition the same thing goes if they use folic acid.
They don't understand nutrition they don't understand that synthetic folic acid competitively inhibits and alters a bunch of different enzymes in the folate pathway okay read that from my friend dr benlin she's the author of dirty genes okay same thing with cyanocobalamin that's science that comes from you know cyanide the molecular element of that number one it's poorly bioavailable it's cheap as dirt uh and you don't want it i would never give that to my child okay um so what do we use we use methylcobalamin uh also sometimes other companies use adenosine cobalamin adenosine cabalman is great for the mitochondria it's a form of b12 that tends to kind of get into the mitochondria better so you want methyl or adenosine cobalamin again you know my disclaimers disclosures i own a supplement company those are the forms that we use here we use five mthf either quatra folate material which is from italy or the metaphone from merck and we also use the b12 now we even get a little bit more specific and use a form of b12 from a spanish biotech company that's highly purified a lot of the b12 on the market it's not a high quality material derived from china.
There's nothing wrong with Chinese raw material by and large but the Spanish raw material that we use is very highly purified it's the only one of the only b12s that's used in an intravenous solution and what's unique about it is how it's made it doesn't need to be cleaved off so there's a lot of chemicals in the synthesis of b12 when they make it as raw material and the form that we use uh in these formulations is this really great material from Spain okay so those are the top three that i look at and then I'll start to look at things like sugar I'll look at things like the form of the minerals so let's talk about the form of the minerals first so if we look at something like zinc if we look at something like selenium if we look at magnesium if we look at any of these minerals which are minerals we probably most people are not getting from their diet so that's why it makes sense to take a multivitamin supplement that also gives minerals. These multivitamins got many benefits including heart problem.
now if you're on a keto diet if you exercise if you go in the sauna you absolutely need zinc you absolutely need to get you know magnesium in your body electrolytes biotin things like this and so that's why you know i formulated these products to have those uh minerals in there but also the form of those minerals is important you've heard about us talk about on other post the form of minerals from albion albion offers a bisglicinate chelate so you have zinc bound to two molecules of glycine a lot of retail brands they'll give you zinc oxide magnesium oxide zinc picolinate okay we've talked about this on videos before picolinic acid from zinc picolinate has no benefits to the body whatsoever it might even be harmful so when you're looking at your mineral forms you want to have a chelate you want to have it chelated you want to have the mineral chelated to something that's actually healthy for the body zinc glycine zinc glistening what is that what you've heard of glycine before oh yeah glycine is one of the most ubiquitous amino acids in the body it's involved in phase two detoxification it's involved in the synthesis of the neurotransmitter gaba it says a lot of things so if you also get zinc and glycine that's a win-win it's not a win-loss okay so that's what we've done over here at myoscience we have two different forms of multivitamins but again this article you don't have to per you can purchase a multivitamin from anyone right what i want you to look out for again is the form of folate the form of b12 in the form of the minerals and then look for unnecessary junk.
What i mean by that is unnecessary sugar unnecessary flavoring agents unnecessary food and dyes things like that and we've been very vigilant about you know how we formulate these items one of them has a little bit more biotin a little bit more vitamin d this is the ultra keto complete also it has vitamin k in the form of mk7 which is again we're leveraging our partner gnosis biotech over in italy their form of the metaquinone 7 vitamin k2 is actually fermented it's a really really cool raw material so we're using that so for kids my daughter shall take one of these in one of these because this is kind of a chewable tablet it tastes great there's no sugar or anything like that just a little bit of stevia and xylitol whereas this has a very small amount of sugar right here the tasty micros so i wanted a gummy people love gummies you know my sister-in-law was pregnant she was like i can't tolerate too much but i want to get my zinc i want to get my folate i want to get my b12 so i'm like look i need a gummy you know people say they want gummies and so that's why we created tasty micros because you know it has the form of minerals that are healthy it has a form of folate the form of b12 that are healthy but it's in the gummy.
You know people can use it in in that regard so you know people ask which one do you recommend we use both in our household if you were to buy just one to be totally honest although i think this is a better formula in terms of what's in it it's easier to make a really good chewable than it is to make a gummy there are only speciality manufacturers that do gummies so better formula better taste so this is where i tell people it's like similar price point a little bit cooler raw materials but this one tastes way better so I just want people to be compliant this one tastes really good too but for some people just love gummies because it reminds them of being a kid and eating gummy bears you know so um anyway in this article hopefully that kind of explained to you kind of the things to look for I'm not making this to just sell you all the stuff i really want you to do what's best for your health.
